why you shouldn’t wait for the phone

Ugh is the exact word to describe this situation.

The hours spent glancing at my phone in hopes that that text, snap, or call will eventually come. Waiting for a text from a boy. A freaking boy. How do I not realize how stupid that sounds?

So many of us girls don’t. I see a dozen other texts, snaps, and completely disregard them just because of one person. It’s such a waste of time and I, unfortunately, completely forget that most of the time.

So I guess, i’m basically writing this for myself, and whoever happens to be battling with the same situation.

I find that the best thing to remember with this is, he’s not worth it. Any guy who doesn’t, or isn’t wanting to try as hard as you are, move on. You shouldn’t have to sit waiting for your phone to ring, and if you are, frankly you’re as desperate as I am.  It took me months (maybe a year) to realize it, and sometimes I still forget.

It’s tough, but there comes a time when we all have to realize we deserve something better. Someone who chooses us, wants to spend time with us, be with only us, etc. Don’t settle for someone less than that, because every girl does deserve that person.

Especially in high school when we’re wasting our time talking to really ignorant, and immature guys (sorry, I don’t mean every one of you), look for the ones who aren’t.  It’s best to not get sucked into the bull that guys provide you at this age, and it’s really sad to see the girls that do.

I’m not saying that I haven’t made the same mistake, but what I am saying is, I never want to repeat it. It’s really easy to get caught up in people without knowing it, and before you know it, you’re in too deep. What usually happens around then is, that person didn’t actually really care about you, and you’re really stuck caring about them.

So I guess the main message is, make damn sure whoever you’re waiting for on the other end of the phone is worth it. Don’t waste your time on people who aren’t, and know what you do, and don’t deserve.
